Woman finds bolt in sandwich served on IndiGo flight

Woman finds bolt in sandwich served on IndiGo flight
Bengaluru: A Bengalurean travelling to Chennai for business on an IndiGo flight, alleged that she found a bolt in the sandwich she was served during the journey. She shared her experience on social media and even took it up with the airline’s customer support service.
On Feb 1, Jyoti Rautela was travelling to Chennai on flight 6E-904 and was served a juice and sandwich by the team of air hostesses. As it was a business trip, her employer had booked the flight ticket and the in-flight meals for the woman and her colleagues. “I had reached Bengaluru airport well in time and eaten at the waiting lounge. When I was served the pre-booked meal on the flight, I decided to only drink the juice and keep the sandwich for later as I wasn’t hungry. My colleagues ate their meals when they were served,” Rautela told TOI.
Only after she reached the pre-booked hotel with her team in Chennai did she take out the sandwich to eat while waiting for a taxi ride.
Airline ‘regretful’
In a statement, IndiGo said, “The issue wasn’t reported by the passenger during the journey. Our in-flight meals are sourced from reputable and highly regarded caterers to maintain the highest standards of quality and hygiene. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passenger and remain committed to providing the best possible in-flight experience and ensuring compliance with food and hygiene standards.”
With two other colleagues from her firm to corroborate the incident, Rautela told TOI she was almost done with the spinach-corn sandwich, with only two bites remaining, when her teeth felt a tight ring and produced a sharp clicking sound. To her surprise, she found a bolt in the sandwich’s filling.
Rautela said she received a call from the airline on Feb 2 and was asked to describe the air hostess who had served her the sandwich. “After two weeks, their social media team got back to me and said that since I hadn’t eaten the sandwich on the plane and found the bolt there, my claim was not legible (sic) and couldn’t be established by them,” she said.
She added that the shock of having almost eaten a bolt was hard for her and her family to overcome. “This is irresponsible on the part of the team,” she stated.
